Petaluma Yacht Club

Known by club members and cruisers alike as “The Jewel of Northern California”, the Petaluma Yacht Club sits in a most desirable location in one of the oldest cities in California. Situated at the active turning basin on the narrow Petaluma River, PYC lies about twelve nautical miles upstream from San Pablo Bay, north of San Francisco.

Petaluma’s downtown is one of the most well preserved historic city centers in the country. Many of the buildings in use today survived the massive 1906 San Francisco earthquake. When docked in the turning basin, cruisers are within walking distance of some of the best restaurants in northern California. Also close at hand are state of the art cinemas, antique shops, unique shopping, art galleries and the highly regarded Petaluma Museum.

Your stay will not be boring. The Petaluma Yacht Club’s calendar is full throughout the year. All around the basin are fair-weather festivals and a wide selection of music venues for every taste. As winter approaches, don’t miss the sight of tug boats presenting Santa and his missus just before the lighted boat parade in December.

Petaluma is an all-volunteer yacht club well-known for superb hospitality. Club members built the club house, tend bar and have fun along with the many PYC guests that pass through each season. The Petaluma Yacht Club, a member of the Pacific Inter-Club Yacht Association, promotes the yachting community throughout northern California.

Members are committed stewards of the Petaluma River and participate in many functions to maintain clean and safe waterways. PYC members contribute to Recreational Boaters of California, and serve on bay and river committees.
